HAA have two projects shortlisted in the heritage category of the 2021 NSW Architecture Awards. The Lowy Institute and Reid House are both located in the Sydney CBD. Two very different buildings requiring two very different responses.
The Lowy Institute is based at 31 Bligh Street, the old New South Wales Club. HAA found ways to make substantial improvements to the lighting and acoustics, important requirements for the Lowy employees. As well, a lift has been discreetly inserted to provide equitable access from the street to the heritage listed building.
Reid House at 75 King Street is an early 20th century warehouse converted into offices in the 1930s. Money received through the City of Sydney’s Heritage Floor Space Scheme allowed the strata the opportunity to improve the façade of the building, update the foyer and replace the shopfronts to reflect its architectural origins.
Thank you to our clients for allowing us to enter them in the awards.
