We’re currently involved in a project which has just repaired and accommodated an antique door into a new setting, by crafting a new but traditional frame.
The door dates back to the 1830s, and is made from Australian cedar. It was cut down when being removed from its previous setting, and an additional 20cm has had to be rebuilt.
The design for the new frame required studying precedents in Australian design, incorporating side lights and an oval shaped fanlight above (both forms of windows).
The repaired door will soon have a new home in a new frame, faithful to its original style.
