Handrails are one of those items that are not noticed when they exist but are very obvious when they don’t. Hector Abrahams Architects have designed a number of handrails to be retro-fitted into various locations to improve accessibility. Our latest design has just been installed at the hall of St David’s Uniting Church in Haberfield. The simple wrought steel rail was based on an existing precedent on the site. Pleasant under hand, the scrolls at each end of the rail lead you up and towards the door providing access directly to the kitchen area at the rear of the hall.

The handrail was manufactured by heritage metalwork specialist Scobie McIntosh Pty Ltd and was made possible by a Uniting Innovative Community Grant.
