The Sir John Monash Centre (SJMC), at the Australian National Memorial in France, received two awards in the AIA’s International Chapter Architecture Awards this year.
A collaboration between Cox Architecture with Hector Abrahams Architects, Tim Williams Architects and Lampros Architects, SJMC received the Award for Heritage and the Award for Public Architecture.
Set unobtrusively behind the War Cemetery and Australian National Memorial, SMJC presents the role and contribution of Australian soldiers on the western front during World War 1. Research by HAA discovered plans of unbuilt paths for the Memorial which were part of the building works.
