Parramatta is the first planned European city in Australia. Its CBD is experiencing unprecedented development under their draft LEP which has no height restrictions. The city is also home to a number of significant sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The City of Parramatta Council remains committed to its heritage in the face of this wave of development. Concerns were expressed about the impact this policy might have on areas abutting the CBD so HAA was engaged to conduct a study on the heritage aspects of these areas. Our work sough viable ways to protect the historic roots of the town as well as individual sites. A corollary report by HAA proposed appropriate DCP controls to inform council’s response to development proposals.
