More exciting news for HAA with the St John’s College Library being shortlisted in the Heritage Category of 2019 AIA Awards (NSW Chapter). Known as the Nagle Library, HAA converted a much under-used space, the original library space of the 1858 design, into a modern study centre. The neighbouring Philosophical Room has been reimagined and restored to be a place for discussion and quiet study.

The Nagle Library

The Nagle Library is the centre piece of a suite of improvements and changes being done at the college by HAA. All the work is driven by the desire of the college to improve the amenity and atmosphere for its students.

The library is now a popular study space, open 24 hours a day. Many students prefer working in these shared facilities rather than alone in their bedrooms. It also allows them to work in groups, a frequent requirement in many subjects.

The AIA awards will be announced on Friday 5 July.
