A detailed site analysis undertaken by HAA included walking the site with the client and listening. We undertook historical research and also closely surveyed and measured the existing buildings. Key planning issues were identified early on such as: access, flooding, views, fabric intactness and storage. The site was observed as a key interface between the urban and rural setting of Camden, offering a unique regional experience close to the centre of town.
The resulting masterplan recommendations include upgrades and extensions to existing buildings to create accessible, multi-purpose spaces. With the removal of Intrusive additions, the existing hall is opened to address the expansive landscape views, new amenities are carefully located to define the boundary and obscure undesirable views and the existing poultry pavilion is reconstructed creating a flexible and flood-proof space.

The Camden Show has been celebrating the value of farmers and growers in the local region since 1886. It is one of the biggest events in the Macarthur region, attracting over 44,000 visitors and competitors from around NSW. Impressively, the show is run largely by a group of dedicated volunteers – ‘Camden Show run by the Community, for the Community!’
