Parramatta Park Plan of Management

Parramatta Park an important and significant cultural landscape in Australia. On these traditional lands of the Burramattagal, there is evidence of Aboriginal camp sites and artefacts dating from 35- 40,000 years indicating, prior to colonisation, a major economic and social hub.

The place also has strong associations with early European settlement, including the site of the first Government House at Parramatta. The park has been, and continues to be, a place of recreation and public sporting activity for over two centuries, and was the first national park created in Australia.

The Parramatta Park Trust conceived of a unique process, wherein they established a team of specialist consultants of which HAA was a member, to develop Your Parramatta Park 2023 Conservation Management Plan and Plan of Management. It is an unusual document, establishing a Conservation Management Plan and a Plan of Management into a single framework, to ensure all aspects of the Park’s heritage significance are considered in the Park’s ongoing management, operation and activation, written for users to read.
